Hello everybody! I’m Ä°lknur. I have been working as an English teacher at UTAA since it opened. I first heard about Lesson Study in one of my PHD courses on teacher education and have been interested in it ever since. At the moment, I’m working for my PHD dissertation which will be about our Lesson Study process at UTAA, and trying to do my best to facilitate this demanding process. We believe in the power of Lesson Study and created this website to help others who would like to try it out. Hope you will be a Lesson Study practitioner one day!

Hi! My name is Pelin. I’m a graduate of ELT, METU and that would be my 8th year in teaching English. Right now, I’m doing my MA in Curriculum and Instruction at Ankara University. Last year was the first time that I heard about Lesson Study and I had an opportunity to conduct a pilot study under the guidance of Ilknur Bayram. It was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had within the scope of CPD so far. It would not be wrong if I told you that it totally changed my point of view and the way I think about teaching and the way I plan my lessons. That’s why I am quite enthusiastic and excited about the next study that we are planning for this year as a practitioner once myself. So, action!

Hi there! I’m Çisem and I’m here once again with a different role. In this productive journey, it’s time for me to be a facilitator and help other colleagues to engage in the process and learn from each other. After gaining experience in lesson study, I thought I can share what I lived and learned with some others, and I volunteered to be a facilitator. I believe this responsibility will also bring me many opportunities to learn about myself and my teaching as well as about working with different dynamics of another group. Then, there’s one thing left to do: All aboard! :)

Hello everyone! My name AyÅŸe. I have a bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching at METU. Currently, I am enjoying my second year in teaching at UTAA. I have first heard about Lesson Study during last year’s ELT Fusion of UTAA and it sounded really different to me. Last term, I had the chance to experience it. I should say that it contributed me a lot and it became my round trip ticket.  As a teacher, I have always focused on teaching during my lessons like a one way ticket so far, but thanks to lesson study I can also focus on the learning part of it, now. Come on and be part of this cycle! :)

Hi everyone!

I’m Merve. Last semester, l had the chance to get involved in the lesson study for the first time. It was a fruitful experience for me to be a part of such a comprehensive professional development activity. Since it focuses on how students learn rather than what they learn, lesson study enabled us teachers to better understand the learning process of our students, thereby allowing us to make alterations to the way we teach accordingly. With the notion that good ideas and experiences should be spread to others, this semester, I will be guiding my colleagues throughout the lesson study process as well as continuing practicing it. Hopefully, it will be highly productive for all of us!
